"Praise be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands to war and fingers to fight."
                                                                                          -Psalm 144

If you want to live free and help all those you love to be able to do the same then you better become proficient at spiritual warfare because as the Apostle Peter warns “your enemy the devil prowls around as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) The Apostle Paul gives us some excellent instructions in Ephesians 6:10-18 about how to “stand against the devils schemes” by putting on the “full armor of God.” At the end of his instructions he tells us to “take...the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17) Next to our faith in God this may be the most important weapon that we have to use to defeat the enemy because it can be used both defensively and offensively. We can certainly see how well our Lord Jesus used the “sword of the Spirit” to defeat satan and drive him away in Matthew 4. In order for us to be more successful in our own spiritual warfare we must become more like Jesus in knowing and using the “sword of the Spirit” and learning as many key scriptures as we can helps prepare us very well. Try to memorize as many of the scriptures below as you can and use them whenever you engage in spiritual warfare because these particular scriptures have proven to be very powerful against the forces of evil.

“The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it!” John 1:5

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you!” James 4:7

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Joahn 3:16

“He is risen!” Matthew 28:6

“Get thee hence, satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.” Matthew 4:10

"As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!" Joshua 24:15

"Get behind me satan! You are a stumbling block to me, you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but of man!" Matthew 16:23

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the power of their testimony!” Revelations 12:11

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world!” 1 John 5:4

“And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

“Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world!” 1 John 4:4

"I am a temple of the Holy Spirit!" Based upon 1 Corinthians 6:19

“If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

“God works all things together for the good of those who love Him!” Romans 8:28

“Father…Deliver us from evil!” From the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:13

“The God of peace will soon crush satan under our feet!” Romans 16:20

“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth; And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:10-11

“In the name of Jesus go!” Based upon Mark 16:17 and Luke 10:17 and the authority that Jesus gives to His disciples to cast out demons in His name. This command has been used by Christians since the early days of the Church to cast out demons and overcome evil.

"Strong in the Lord and in His Mighty Power!" Ephesians 6:10

“Thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory though our Lord Jesus Christ!” 1 Corinthians 15:57

All of these scriptures are extremely powerful because they proclaim God’s truth about His victory over evil in a way that terrorizes demons. Memorize them and make them a part of your very being so that you can use them whenever you need to in order to defeat the forces of evil. You should pray them as well as speak them out loud because demons can not hear your intimate prayers to God. Of course all the power contained in these words from scripture come from Jesus the “Word of God” Himself so “pray in the Spirit at all times” as Paul also instructed in Ephesians 6: 18 and for really tough times you may need to engage in even deeper prayer and fasting just as Jesus told His disciples to do in Matthew 17:21 and Mark 9:29.
