The Carmelite friar Francois-Marie LETHEL, professor of theorgy at Rome, wanted very much to send me this so precious [document] : he obtained for me, from the archives of the Vatican, a photograph, through the graciousness of the knowledgable nun [who is a] specialist in the preservation of these precious treasures.

J'ai donné dans mon article du n°111 la traduction et tout un exposé sur ce précieux parchemin. Mais, alors que j'avais la traduction du Père Ayrolles, de 1890, qui m'a permis ce petit travail préliminaire, je n'avais pas encore cette si précieuse photographie.

I have given, in my article of no. 111 the translation and a complete statement about this precious parchment. However, whereas I had the translation of Father Ayrolles of 1890, which allowed this first little preliminary work, I never yet had this so precious photograph.

The event which it reports was at the time the shortest and the greatest [event] of the mission of Jeanne d’Arc. It is the summit of it ! -- and the summit of all things and of all beings, seeing that the summit is Christ the King !

King of heaven and of all the earth, said Jeanne herself in her letter to the Duke of Burgundy, the same day as the consecration [of Charles at Reims 17 Jun 1429 ?] -- and of Vaucouleurs. All at the beginning of her mission, at the moment when she defined it : « The kingdom does not belong to the Dauphin, it belongs to my Lord the King of Heaven. »

It is more than Orleans, it is more than everything [else], it is the mystical victory, the triumph of God.

And this document from the Vatican shows us the [brilliant] summit ! But how long did this brilliant summit last ? The text tells us : « And after a very little bit of time ... after another little time ... » Such is the time which the royalty of Jeanne lasted : a bit near the time to tell it ...

It is of an incredible brevity, but of a grandeur unheard of ! ... She became Queen of France for a few muinutes. .. the time [it took] to give the kingdom of France to God and to return it to the King of France on behalf of God.

Read very attentively the translation of the text ... Everything is there. And the four notaries of the King have drawn it up in a solemn act !

Alas ! Why has the document never reacherd us ? Could a companion of Cauchon have destroyed it ? A Regnault de Chartres would have been capable of it ... Will it reappear someday ? like the historical breviary of which we have here an authentic photograph ?

Unquestionably Jeanne was the great servant, and the great messenger of Christ the King.

Here is the translation of the famopus document preserved in the archives of the Vatican : and here that which Father Ayrolles said about it in the last [19th] century :

... the said Pucelle asked of the King of France to make her a gift, which the King agreed [to do], and she asked then that he give her his kingdom, which the astonished King, after a time of reflection, gave her ; and she accepted [it], and wished that the letters [documents] be made for her by the four secretaries of the King and solemnly recited. This made the King remain astonished for a certain time. And in this circumstance itself she said : « And see here the poorest knight of the kingdom » and after a very short bit of time before [that] the said notaries gave it to God Almighty. After another short time, on the order of God, she invested the King, Charles himself, with the realm of France, and concerning all this she ordered that solemn letters [about it] be drawn up.

He had obtained a photograph for me from the Vatican archives, thanks to the scientist who is the specialist in religion there of the conservation for this precious treasures.

In my article, # 111, I gave the translation and a complete explanation on this precious parchment. But while I had the translation of Father Ayrolles (the one from 1890), which permitted me this little preliminary work, I still didn’t have this precious photograph.

The event brought, at the same time, both the shortest and greatest from all of Joan of Arc’s mission. It is absolutely the summit! And the summit of all things possible, because it comes from The King, Jesus Christ!

At the very beginning of her mission, at the moment where she was defining it, Joan states: "The Kingdom doesn’t belong to the Dauphin. It belongs to my Lord, the king of Heaven."

This statement is more important than her victory at Orleans, more astounding than the letter she wrote to the Duke of Burgundy on the same day of the Dauphin's anointing and crowning.

This statement is more important than everything, because it’s the mystical victory of the triumph of God!

This Vatican document shows us the absolute summit! But for how long will this absolute summit last? The text tells us: "And after just a little time…after another small time…" Joan’s royalty lasted for as long as it took to say it.

It’s an unbelievable brief period of time, yet its incredible importance is beyond comparison! For a few brief moments Joan was the Queen of France …just for the time needed to give the Kingdom to God and then to return it from God to the Dauphin.

Read very carefully the translation of this text…everything is there, as well as the four notaries of the King.

Alas! Why didn’t we get this document before? Could a colleague of Cauchon have destroyed it? One such as Regnaut de Chartres was certainly capable of that…or will it possibly turn up again one day? Like the document of the Breviarium, which you have here an authentic photograph?

One thing is sure; Joan was the great servant, and the great messenger of Christ, the King.

Here’s the translation of this famous document kept in the Vatican Archives: and here is what Father Ayrolles had to said about it in the last century:

"If Charles VII and his successors had understood, they would have encased this marvelous parchment in gold and silk; they would have surrounded it with precious stones. For they don’t have anything in their treasury a diamond comparable to this…The universe will be in the arms of Jesus Christ…" (Ayroles T.1.59)

What more could the maid have done for the King of France than to make him a gift that the King would accept, and so she asked that he give her his kingdom, and after the King, who was amazed, thought about it awhile, he gave it to her, and she accepted it and wanted that this be written down by the four secretaries of the King and recited officially, and solemnly. All of this left the King dumbstruck. And regarding all this, Joan herself said, "And here is the poorest knight in his kingdom", and after just a little bit of time and in front of these notaries, she gave the kingdom to God Almighty. And then, just a little bit of time later, under the order of God, she invested the kingdom of France to King Charles. From all of this she wanted that these letters be raised up in a solemn fashion.
